In episode 17 of the Exploring Happiness podcast, I’m dabbling in the topic of gender equality. I’m focused on the individual and couple/family level. While it is a complex issue involving a lot of factors, there is always something we individuals can do to improve the situation.
As a woman, I find that many women take on… everything. This is particularly true when they have kids. They work, they parent extensively, they take care of the household and they are exhausted. I was like that. Sometimes, I still am.
As a solution, I propose that the split of domestic and family tasks should be negotiated between the couple and nobody else. I also suggest that we women who try to juggle it all let go. Instead, we should put ourselves on top of the list and also look after ourselves. Things will get done probably with everyone being happier.
